CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College field hockey opens the 2025 season with a weekend series in Maine. The Eagles will face the University of Maine on Friday at 1 p.m. and Indiana University on Saturday at 1 p.m. to start the action.
Coming off a 14-7 season (6-2 ACC) where they remained perfect at home, finished seventh in the NFHCA Poll, made the ACC Tournament championship game and competed in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the Eagles look to get a strong start on the road.
Boston College came in No. 8 in the 2025 preseason NFHCA Coaches's Poll and No. 4 in the ACC Preseason poll with one first place vote.
This weekend, the Eagles look to keep last season's momentum and notch its seventh straight victory over the Black Bears and third overall victory over the Hoosiers.
Senior Martina Giacchino enters her second year as captain and is joined this season by Eva Kluskens. Giacchino has played in 57 games in the midfield for the Eagles with eight goals and 18 assists under her belt. Most notably, Giacchino assisted the team in the ACC Tournament last season in a penalty shootout to take them to the championship game. Kluskens has started every game she has played in for the Eagles over four years, recording one goal and five assists for seven points in her junior season. A staple of BC's midfield rotation, she provided a spark on both ends of the field. Kluskens also earned NFHCA First-Team All-Region honors, Second-Team All-ACC honors, and was named to the ACC All-Tournament team last season.
Junior Charlotte Kramer returns as the 2024 ACC Goalkeeper of the Year. Last season, she recorded the fourth-most saves in the ACC (74), the fourth-best goals against average (1.368), the fourth most saves per game (3.52), and the fourth-best save percentage (.725). Kramer had a conference high 14 saves last season against North Carolina.
Both games will take place at the UMaine Field Hockey Complex in Orono, Maine. Friday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Saturday's on American East TV.
