News and Notes from Day 9 of Training Camp
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- After a high intensity controlled scrimmage inside the confines of Alumni Stadium on Saturday, the Eagles capped off another week of Training Camp when they took the practice fields outside Fish Field House on Sunday morning.Â
Situational football was the foundation of Sunday's practice, as the offense, defense and special teams simulated game-like scenarios in preparation for the season, with Fordham coming to town in less than three weeks.Â
After practice, tight end Jeremiah Franklin and defensive lineman Ty Clemons met with the media.Â
Training Camp is a time to make the most of opportunities given before the regular season begins. With both sides of the ball filled with underclassmen, veteran Ty Clemons knows there's no shortage of voices in the locker room.Â
"Having multiple guys lead the group, not just one guy, that's helpful for us as a defensive line, and helpful for us as a defense," said Clemons.Â
On offense, the play of the day came from freshman Dawson Pough, who hauled in a long, over-the-shoulder touchdown in the back corner of the end zone to begin an energetic 7-on-7 period. Additionally, Reed Harris continued his impressive play, recording numerous 20+ yard receptions in one of the final competitive team periods of the day. For veteran pass catcher Jeremiah Franklin, age is just a number when you're on the football field.Â
"As everyone can see, there are definitely young guys out there who do really well. Just because you're older doesn't mean that you have to be the best in everything. I'm just trying to pass them my knowledge, and I'm also trying to get knowledge from them," said the senior tight end.Â
After three consecutive practices, the Eagles are off tomorrow before returning to the practice fields again on Tuesday morning. Practices are closed to the public.Â
