MONTREAL – Boston College sophomore goaltender Jacob Fowler has signed a three-year entry-level deal with the National Hockey League's (NHL) Montreal Canadiens, as announced by the organization on Friday. Fowler will join Laval Rocket (AHL) for the remainder of the 2024-25 season before his NHL begins in the 2025-26 campaign.
Fowler was a third round selection by the Canadiens in the 2023 NHL Draft.
"Jacob was a key component of our success over the past two seasons," said Schiller Family Head Coach Greg Brown. "His competitiveness and consistent high level of play was truly impressive. We wish him all the best and look forward to seeing his success at the next level."
In 2024-25, Fowler was named one of four finalists for the Mike Richter Award, presented annually to the top goaltender in Division I men's ice hockey. The Florida native finished the year with a 1.63 goals against average, a .940 save percentage, and seven shutouts, all of which are in the top three among goaltenders in the country.
In league play, Fowler put up a historic 1.59 goals against average and .945 save percentage on his way to earning Goaltender of the Year as well as runner-up for the league's Player of the Year award.
He finishes his collegiate career as a two-time Hockey East Goaltender of the Year, the eighth-most wins in program history (57) and holds the program record for career goals against average at 1.90, the first BC goaltender to ever finish with a GAA below 2.00.
