Eagles Drop Wednesday Contest to Maine

Boston College will host Stanford for an ACC weekend series starting Friday night
The visitors opened the scoring on an RBI single in the top of the second, but the Eagles responded. Jack Toomey drew a walk, and for the second time in two days, Beck Milner left the yard. On the first pitch of the at-bat, Milner connected, sending a two-run homer over the right-field fence to put the Eagles in front, 2-1.
Maine retook a one-run lead in the third, matching the Eagles with a two-run home run of their own to go up 3-2. The lead grew to 4-2 in the fourth on another Maine home run, a solo shot to left-center. BC drew one back in the fifth, as Sam McNulty singled and Colin Larson doubled, setting the table for a sacrifice fly from Patrick Roche to cut the deficit to 4-3.
Beck Milner tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth, driving an RBI single through the right side for his second hit of the day, and sixth hit in his last seven at-bats. John Kwiatkowski entered in relief in the seventh and faced the minimum, inducing two groundouts and ending the scoreless frame with a strikeout. Kwiatkowski followed suit in the eighth, striking out the first two batters he faced before a groundout to the shortstop completed his second straight 1-2-3 inning.
The sides traded scoreless frames in the seventh, eighth, and ninth, sending the game to extras tied at 4-4. Maine took the lead in the top of the tenth on a one-run single through the left side of the infield, and held the Eagles in the bottom of the frame to win 5-4 in ten innings.
The Eagles will resume action with a home conference series against Stanford starting Friday night at Harrington Athletics Village.
