April 19, 2025 | Softball
This is BC's second win over Clemson in the last two seasons
CLEMSON, S.C. – Boston College Softball (20-23, 5-13 ACC) defeated the Clemson University Tigers (37-12, 16-5 ACC) by a score of 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at McWhorter Stadium.
The hosts got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning on a fielder's choice to make things 1-0, but the Eagles answered in a big way in the top of the fourth as Gator Robinson and Hannah Slike each got on base with singles and were driven home by Jordan Stephens, who launched a three-run home run 240 feet over the left field wall to give BC the 3-1 lead.
In the top of the fifth, the Eagles extended their lead thanks to Emma Jackson driving in Kali Case with her ninth double of the season, which made it a 4-1 ballgame. The Tigers added one run in the bottom of the inning to bring them within two. In the top of the sixth, Hannah Slike got on base with a single for her 200th career hit, making her the fifth player in Boston College Softball history to surpass the 200 hits mark. Later in the inning, Zoe Hines brought Slike home with a sacrifice fly to put the Eagles up by three runs.
The Tigers were unable to mount a comeback, giving the Eagles their first win over a ranked opponent this season, and the second win over Clemson in the past two seasons.
In the circle, Kelly Colleran pitched a complete game, giving up just three hits and one earned run, while striking out four batters. This was her seventh complete game of the season. She improves to 11-11 on the year.
On deck: The Eagles return home for a midweek showdown vs. Merrimack College on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. The game will be streamed live on the ACC Network Extra.
