Eagles Beat Merrimack 8-0 in Five Innings

BC will travel to Syracuse this weekend for a pivotal ACC series
BRIGHTON, Mass. – Boston College Softball (21-23, 5-13 ACC) defeated the Merrimack College Warriors (9-28, 6-11 MAAC) by a score of 8-0 on Wednesday afternoon in a five-inning affair.Â
The Eagles got out to a hot start in the first inning as Hannah Slike drove in Emma Jackson with an RBI triple, followed by Zoe Hines reaching on a fielding error and Slike scoring to make things 2-0. Jackson started off the second inning with a two-RBI triple of her own and Slike would again drive her in to put the Eagles up by five. With her triple, Jackson is now tied for the second-most triples in a single season in BC Softball history (5).
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Abby Ptak reached second base on a fielding error that scored Maycee Hilt and Zoe Hines making the game 7-0, before Makenna Segal hit a walk-off RBI single to give the Eagles the 8-0 lead in five innings.
Kelly Colleran was in the circle for the Eagles, picking up her 12th win of the season, pitching three shutout innings, blanking five batters while not allowing a hit. Colleran was relieved by Bailey Kendziorski after three innings, who finished the game, recording two strikeouts of her own.
On deck: BC travels to Syracuse this weekend for a pivotal ACC series. The games are scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and will be streamed live on the ACC Network Extra.
