
Rowing Retains Irving-Christensen Cup for Second Consecutive Year

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Boston College rowing team recorded a strong performance in Worcester Saturday afternoon, retaining the Irving-Christensen Cup for a second year.
The morning was beautiful partly cloudy with temperatures in the 70s with wind speeds varying up to 20 mph.
"A good primer as we look towards Wheeler next week," said head coach Grace Hollowell. "I think there is room to improve and sharpen parts of our racing, looking forward to gaining speed in a short week! Great to retain the Irving-Christensen Cup and congrats to MIT on some fast and close racing!"
The Varsity 8+ got the Eagles started, coxed by Madelyn Stevens with rowers Lauren Schramm, Rachele Papineau, Lauren Bauer, Lucy Barratt, Lauren Meath, Callaghan Nickerson, Grace Yi and Leighton Davis. Boston College finished the course in a time of 7:19.97, earning a second place finish. They finished four seconds behind MIT who recorded a first place finish. The Eagles finished ahead of Holy Cross and UConn.
The Second Varsity 8+, a team of coxswain Caroline Jennings, and rowers Sierra Ross, Brooke Picazio, Leighton Smith, Jennie Sherwood, Lauren Craven, Molly Devine, Erin Smith and Kirsten Thorn posted a time of 7:27.41, earning a second place finish behind MIT. Boston College finished less than two seconds afer MIT, and over 11 seconds ahead of Holy Cross and more than 25 seconds ahead of UConn's A and B entries.
The Third Varsity 8+, the B entry in the 2v8 event, was coxed by Chloe Reisinger with rowers Olivia Hankey, Josie Hohenrieder, Ruby Barnett, Ella Davis, Charlotte Cochener, Reagan Rock, Molly Welch and Eva Kelliher. They finished the course in a time of 7:43.07 earning a fourth place finish ahead of UConn's A and B boats.
The First Varsity 4+, coxed by Lucy Fortner with rowers Quinn Baker, Amelia Sanger, Elizabeth Cobb and Claire Piacentini finished the course with a time of 8:37.4, about 10 seconds ahead of Holy Cross.
The Second Varsity 4+, coxed by Cassidy Ferron with rowers Chloe Wilkinson, Jo McTamney, Neave Anderson and Jill Reichenbach, finished with a time of 8:10.9, less than one second after first place MIT. The Eagles finished ahead of Holy Cross A and B entries.
The Third Varsity 4+, the B entry in the 2v4 event, was coxed by Sarah Braam with rowers Molly O'Connell, Sofia Tamayo, Ella Connolly and Ella Saxton finished the course with a time of 9:04.2.
