Eagles Drop ACC Opener 5-3

This was the first time BC and Cal faced each other since 2008
BERKELEY, Calif. – Boston College softball opened ACC play on Friday afternoon, falling to the California Golden Bears by a score of 5-3 at Levine-Fricke Field.
The Eagles got on the board early, thanks to a Jordan Stephens double in the top of the first, her fifth of the season, driving in Hannah Slike.The Golden Bears struck back in the bottom of the first, as Acacia Anders knocked in a two-run home run. Cal would add a run in both the second and third to make the score 4-1.
In the fourth inning, Gator Robinson drove in Janis Espinoza after she reached on a fielder's choice, putting the Eagles within two. California would homer again in the fifth, to make it 5-2. In the top of the seventh, the Eagles loaded the bases and Emma Jackson drove in Kali Case, but the Golden Bears would go on to win 5-3.
Freshman pitcher Bailey Kendziorski rung up seven batters, setting a new season and career-high. Case and Jordan Stephens each recorded two hits, while Robinson, Jackson, and Stephens recorded the three RBIs.
On deck: The Eagles return to action tomorrow, taking on California for the second game of the three-game series. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
