Big Sixth Inning Pushes Eagles Past Spartans

Abby Ptak recorded her first collegiate hit
SAN JOSE, Calif. – Boston College softball improved to 10-5 on Wednesday evening, taking down San Jose State University by a score of 5-3. This is BC's fifth consecutive win, which is the longest winning streak of the season.
Boston College got out to a hot start, as Emma Jackson got the Eagles on the board in the first inning with an RBI single that scored Gator Robinson, however the Spartans answered in the bottom of the inning to even the score.
In the third inning, Kali Case stole third base and scored on an error, but once again San Jose answered in the bottom of the inning, making it 2-2. The Spartans took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly.
The Eagles tied it up in the top of the sixth, thanks to a Jordan Stephens RBI single, scoring Hannah Slike. Makenna Segal then gave BC the lead on a fielder's choice sacrifice bunt that scored Emma Jackson. Abby Ptak added on to the lead with her first collegiate hit, driving in Zoe Hines with an RBI single.Â
Freshman Bailey Kendziorski picked up her second win of the season, dishing out four strikeouts, tying her season high.Â
