Kelly Colleran set a new career-high for strikeouts (7)
BRIGHTON, Mass. – Boston College softball (13-14, 1-8 ACC) defeated Stonehill College (6-17, 0-6 NEC) by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon at the Harrington Athletics Village.Â
The Skyhawks got on the board first in the top of the second with a solo home run, Stonehill's lone run of the game. From there, it was all BC, as Gator Robinson got the Eagles on the board with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third to tie things up, and Jordan Stephens scored after Zoe Hines was thrown out stealing in the bottom of the fourth to make things 2-1.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Meghan Schouten hit her second homer of the year to give the Eagles a two-run lead, followed by Emma Jackson hitting her first career home run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 4-1. Schouten then extended BC's lead to 6-1 with a two-RBI double, which scored Sammy Horn and Tannis Jackin. In the circle for the Eagles, Kelly Colleran recorded seven strikeouts, which is a new season and career-high.Â
On deck: BC hosts Pittsburgh this weekend in a three-game series of ACC play at the Harrington Athletics Village. All three games will be streamed live on the ACC Network Extra.
