Eagles Grab Top-Five Finish at 64th Jan Friis Team Race

BC will race three times next weekend
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Boston College sailing returned to action this past weekend, sailing in three regattas. The Eagles sailed in the Duplin Trophy Regatta hosted by Harvard University, the 64th Jan Friis Team Race hosted by the Coast Guard Academy, and the Aaron Szambecki Team Race hosted by Old Dominion.Â
In the Duplin Trophy regatta, BC placed sixth out of nine teams, going 6-10. They went 3-5 in the first round, picking up wins against Bowdoin, Harvard, and Roger Williams, and again went 3-5 in round two, this time notching victories over MIT, Roger Williams, and Tulane.
Up next was the 64th Jan Friis Team Race, where the Eagles sailed to a fourth place finish out of 10 boats. BC went 8-1 in the first round, picking up wins over Brown, Coast Guard, Charleston, Harvard, Roger Williams, Stanfored, Tufts, and Vermont, only falling to Rhode Island (2-4-5). The Eagles won their first quarterfinal race against Tufts (1-2-3), before dropping the second (2-4-6), and winning the third (1-2-5). BC then went on to drop two of the three semifinal races vs. Roger Williams and two of the three races against Harvard in the Petit Finals.
To round out the weekend, the Eagles earned a sixth place finish out of 10 teams at the Aaron Szambecki Team Race, going 6-8. BC picked up notable wins over Dartmouth, Fordham, George Washington, and Navy in the first round, and Tulane and Stanford in the top six.

Up next: BC is back in action next weekend for the Marchiando Team Race hosted by MIT, the Dellenbaugh Team Race hosted by Brown, and the Jumbo Team Race, hosted by Tufts.
