Three Home Runs Lift Eagles Past Wolfpack
March 23, 2025 | Softball
Meghan Schouten and Hannah Slike each hit their first home runs of the season
BRIGHTON, Mass. – Boston College softball (12-14, 1-8 ACC) took down the NC State Wolfpack (20-12, 4-5 ACC) by a score of 10-7 on Sunday afternoon at the Harrington Athletics Village. BC set new season-highs for runs (10), RBIs (10), and home runs (3).
The Eagles got out to an early lead, as Gator Robinson drew a walk, followed by Hannah Slike hitting a two-run home run. This was followed up by Adriana Martinez knocking in Jordan Stephens for her first collegiate RBI to make things 3-0. Meghan Schouten rounded out the first inning with her first home run of the season, driving in Zoe Hines, Janis Espinoza, and herself with a three-run shot.Â
The Wolfpack got on the board in the top of the first with an RBI single, but Jordan Stephens answered back in the bottom of the inning with her fifth home run of the season to put the Eagles up 7-1. NC State homered in the top of the third, but once again BC answered in the bottom of the inning, this time thanks to an Abby Ptak RBI double, her first of the season, to make things 8-2.
The Wolfpack would move within three in the top of the sixth, but in the bottom of the inning, Zoe Hines drove in two with a single to make the lead five again. NC State added two more in the top of the seventh, before Bailey Kendziorski struck out two to close out the game and give the Eagles their first ACC win of the season.
On deck: BC returns to action at the Harrington Athletics Village on Tuesday at 3 p.m. when they take on Stonehill in a non-conference matchup.
