Eagles Drop Double Header to Cavaliers

BC takes on Bryant on Wednesday, before starting an 18-game home stand next weekend
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Boston College softball (10-10, 0-6 ACC) dropped the final two games of the series against the University of Virginia on Saturday afternoon.Â
GAME 1
The hosts got out to an early lead after a two-run first inning, and would add a run in the bottom of the third to make things 3-0. BC got on the board in the top of the fourth thanks to a two-run double from Janis Espinoza.
The score would remain 4-2 for the rest of the game, handing the Eagles their second loss of the weekend.
GAME 2
The Hoos got out to an early 5-0 lead in game two, but the Eagles answered with one in the top of the second after Zoe Hines scored on a wild pitch. The Cavaliers made it 6-1 in the bottom of the inning after an RBI single.
The Eagles would tie things up in the top of the fourth, as Kali Case knocked in a two-RBI single and Emma Jackson hit a base-clearing triple, making the score 6-6. The Hoos answered in the bottom of the inning with a home run, and added another in the bottom of the fifth off another home run.
BC tied things up in the top of the seventh thanks to a Janis Espinoza RBI double and an error that scored Espinoza, but the Cavaliers would hit a walk-off single to give them the victory.
On deck: BC takes on Bryant University this week Wednesday on the road, before hosting NC State for a three game series at home next weekend.
