Eagles will resume action on Tuesday at home vs. Sacred Heart
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Boston College Baseball (7-9, 2-4 ACC) dropped the series to No. 5 Florida State (18-1, 3-0 ACC) in the Saturday doubleheader to conclude their second ACC weekend of the season.
Game One
Florida State jumped out to an 8-0 lead through three innings, started off by a three-run home run in the first, and a three-run double in the second. Josiah Ragsdale doubled to left-center to set up a bases-loaded situation for BC in the third, but a narrowly-caught line drive by the third baseman resulted in a double play to nullify the rally. The Seminoles added two in the fourth, and four in the sixth to go up 14-0, ending the game in seven innings.Â
Game Two
The hosts opened the scoring in the first inning, hanging a three-spot, sparked by a two-run home run. Kyle Kipp came back out for the second and worked a scoreless frame, before giving way to JD Ogden on the mound, who settled the game down, tossing three shutout innings with two strikeouts. The Eagles got one back in the fifth, led off by a Jack Toomey single, who came around to score on an errant throw by the catcher into the outfield, making it a 3-1 game. The Seminoles extended their lead with one-run innings in the sixth, seventh, and eighth, before BC drew one back in the ninth on a Jack Toomey ground ball, making it 6-2, where the score would hold.Â
The Eagles will return home for a pair of mid-week contests vs. Sacred Heart and Northeastern, before hosting North Carolina in their ACC home opener this Friday.
