
Women's Basketball Suffers Loss at Pitt

PITTSBURGH - Boston College women's basketball suffered a 79-66 decision to Pittsburgh on Thursday evening in the Petersen Events Center.Â
The Eagles fall to 13-12 and 4-8 in the league, while Pitt improves to 10-14 and 2-9 in the conference.
Nene Ndiaye posted a career and team-high 16 points with six rebounds and was 7-of-7 from the line. T'yana Todd registered 14 points, while Dontavia Waggoner tallied 12 points.Â
Andrea Daley carded 12 points with eight rebounds and reached the 1,000 career point mark after her layup at the end of the third. Teya Sidberry led the team with nine boards.Â
Turnovers and a slow start on offense led to the Panthers jumping out to an early 13-point lead. Pitt shot over 70 percent in the opening quarter and scored 16 points in the paint to go up 33-10 after the first.Â
Pittsburgh stayed in front during the second half, taking a double-digit lead into the half. The hosts held BC to under 30 percent shooting from the field and forced 10 turnovers. BC did its damage from the line, shooting 14-of-15.Â
The Eagles climbed back in the third quarter, as it held Pitt to just three field goals and 11 points, including a stretch of 12 straight missed field goals. BC hit six of its first nine shots, while Daley's layup at the end of the third brought the deficit to 12. Daley led the charge scoring seven of her points in the frame.
Neither team scored in the first 3:11 of the fourth period until a 3-pointer from Ndiaye closed the gap to single digits, 61-52. However, Pitt kept BC at bay for the rest of the game, stretching its lead back to more than 10 and pulling away for the win.Â
BC returns to action on Sunday against No. 17/19 Georgia Tech at 2 p.m. in Conte Forum.Â
