
Women's Basketball Outlasts Hokies on Senior Night in OT

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - A Kaylah Ivey 3-pointer in overtime lifted Boston College women's basketball to a thrilling 92-89 overtime win on Senior Night in Conte Forum.
The Eagles are 15-15 and 6-11 overall, while the Hokies fall to 17-11 and 8-9 in the league.
Six players scored in double figures in a balanced attack. Teya Sidberry registered a team-high 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting with 12 rebounds.
Kaylah Ivey registered 14 points and dished out a game-high seven assists. Dontavia Waggoner totaled 14 points (nine in the second half/OT) with five off the glass and five steals.
Kennedi Jackson scored 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while Andrea Daley carded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
With the game tied 89-89, Ivey canned her fourth trifecta of the game with 49 seconds left to give the Eagles the lead. BC's defense forced VT to miss its final attempt on the ensuing possession, snapping a seven-game skid against the Hokies to get back to .500.
Sidberry led the charge in overtime, scoring eight of her points in the five minutes. BC held the Hokies to no field goals over the final 2:33 of the contest.
Waggoner stepped up in the final stretch of regulation, scoring the final four points for BC, including two at the line with 11 seconds to tie up the contest to force overtime. It was a back-and-forth affair in the fourth with neither team leading by more than four.
The Eagles fought back from a seven-point lead in the third period to slice the gap to three going into the fourth after scoring 10 of the final 14 points of the period. Savannah Samuel's trey brought the gap to one before a VT bucket gave the visitors a 66-63 edge.
BC's offense came out scorching in the first quarter, shooting 61.9 percent from the field en route to a 32-25 advantage. T'yana Todd scored 10 of her 14 points in the frame highlighted by five straight points that gave BC its largest lead of the game at 30-21.
The Eagles went into the half with a 43-39 cushion after Sidberry hit a 3-pointer to answer a Hokie basket.
The offense outscored VT 20-5 in transition and held an 18-11 showing in second-chance points. BC honored the four seniors in Daley, Jackson, Ivey and Waggoner, who scored a combined 51 points with 23 rebounds. Boston College also recognized its senior managers - Joseph Ban, Tommy Dee, Aidan Mackey, and Blaise Castro.Â
BC aims for a third straight win on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the regular-season finale at Syracuse on ACC Network.
