ORLANDO, Fla. – Sophomore goaltender Jacob Fowler was voted as a semifinalist for the 95th AAU James E. Sullivan Award, presented annually to the most exceptional athlete at the collegiate, Olympic, or other similarly elite level in the United States.
Fowler joins Michigan State's Trey Augustine as the only two NCAA ice hockey players among the 39 athletes selected as semifinalists.
The Florida native was recently named one of 10 semifinalists for the Mike Richter Award, presented annually to the top goalie in NCAA Division I Hockey since 2014. He is tied for first in the NCAA in wins (20), second in shutouts (6), and fifth in both goals against average (1.71) and save percentage (.936).
Fowler leads Hockey East in wins, shutouts, and save percentage, and sits second in goals against average.
The sophomore had a record-breaking freshman campaign in 2023-24 that saw him break the NCAA record for wins by a freshman with 32 and being named a First Team All-American, along with helping the Eagles to their 18th Hockey East regular season title, 12th Hockey East Tournament Championship, and 12th appearance in the National Championship. Fowler also won gold with the United States at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship.
