
Eagles Beat Friars, Fall to Gators

BC now sits at 5-5 on the season
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Boston College Eagles closed out the Bubly Invitational on Saturday afternoon with games against Providence College and the No. 2 Florida Gators. BC won the first game by a score of 6-4, and lost the second one 3-0.
GAME 1
The Friars took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but BC would answer in the top of the second thanks to an Emma Jackson triple followed by a passed ball. Providence reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the inning adding two more runs and added one more in the fourth inning.
In the seventh inning, the Eagles were down to their last out with two runners on base when Jordan Stephens sparked the team with a two-RBI double to make it a 4-3 ballgame and put the tying run on first. Janis Espinoza tied things up with an RBI single, before Gator Robinson add two more with a single.
Bailey Kendziorski entered the circle for the bottom of the seventh, earning her second save of the season as the Eagles secured the 6-4 victory.
GAME 2
Kendziorski was back on the mound just 30 minutes later as the Eagles took on the No. 2 Florida Gators for the second time this weekend. Kendziorski started the game by retiring seven straight batters and finished with two strikeouts..Â
Both teams were scoreless until the bottom of the third, when the Gators got on the board. They would add two more runs in the fifth. Hannah Slike recorded two hits, while Maycee Hilt and Janis Espinoza each had one.
Up next: The Eagles head to North Carolina next weekend to play five games in the Pirate Invitational, hosted by East Carolina University.
