Four Eagles Named to ACC Men’s Soccer All-Academic Team

Three defenders and a forward from BC earn the recognition
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) announced the 2024 Men's Soccer All-Academic team on Wednesday afternoon, which featured four student-athletes from Boston College. Juniors Max Andrews, Christian Bejar and Ask Ekeland, and sophomore Moritz Gundelach were on the list.
In order to be selected to the All-ACC Academic Teams, the athletes must have a 3.0 grade point average for the fall semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during their academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
Andrews started all 16 of the games he played in this past season for the Eagles. The junior played a key role across the back line for BC as the right-back. The Connecticut native logged 1346 minutes of playing time and finished the campaign with one goal and two assists. He tallied his first collegiate in the final home game of the season, scoring in the 4-2 victory over Stony Brook.
Also playing in the back line, Bejar started all 17 games in 2024 for Boston College. Playing as a left-back, the junior played nearly 1500 minutes this season, finishing with one goal and one assist. He scored the game-winning goal in the Eagles' 3-1 win over Siena.
Ekeland, An All-ACC Second Team selection in 2024, led the Eagles in points (18) and goals (8). The junior made an immediate impact on the Heights in first season with BC, scoring two goals in the first game of the season, a 2-2 draw against Iona, while tallying two game-winning goals over the course of the year. He also scored the game-tying goals in the league ties against Louisville and Notre Dame.
Gundelach played in 17 games this past season, making 16 starts. The sophomore from Germany played 1408 minutes as a centerback for the Eagles. He tallied his first collegiate goal in the victory over Dartmouth, striking a first-time shot out of the air off a cross from Andrews. Gundelach played the full 90 minutes in 13 matches.
