Women's Basketball Suffers Setback to Bryant

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball dropped an 80-71 contest to Bryant on Tuesday evening in Conte Forum.

BC drops to 4-9 on the season, and the Bulldogs improve to 8-3.
​Lily Carmody scored all of her team-high 15 points in the second half, shooting 5-of-8 from the field and 5-for-7 from the line. Kayla Rolph netted 13 points with a team-best seven boards, while three of her five field goals came from 3-point land.
​Erin Houpt chipped in with 10 points to round out the leading scorers, and Athena Tomlinson registered a game-best eight assists with eight points.
​After trailing 18-11 in the first period, the Eagles' offense responded to a slow start from the field, shooting 50 percent in the second quarter. BC hit four of its seven field goals from beyond the arc, and thanks in large part to Rolph (8 points) and Houpt (6 points) scoring 14 of the Eagles' points in the period. The duo highlighted the frame by scoring all eight points during an 8-1 surge to slice the lead to three, 32-29, at the end of the opening half.
​BC hit its first two field goals of the second half after a Tomlinson field goal to give BC a 33-32 lead. However, the Bulldogs went on a 13-0 run over the next 3:25 to take a 45-33 advantage, hitting five of their seven shots during the stretch. Bryant outscored BC by 11 in the third to take a 14-point lead into the final quarter.
​The Eagles sliced what was a 16-point deficit to nine points with 3:35 left after Teionni McDaniel and Jocelyne Grier capped off a 13-6 run with five straight points. But the Bulldogs kept BC from getting any closer to pull away for the win.
​Bryant took advantage of 22 BC turnovers for 23 points and shot over 50 percent from the field.
​Boston College faces Northeastern on Friday, Dec. 19, at noon in Conte Forum in the final non-conference game of the season.

Tip-Ins
- BC's reserves outscored Bryant's, 23-8. McDaniel (9 points) and Grier (8 points) led the way with 17 points coming off the bench.
- It's the fourth game this season that Carmody has scored at least 15 points, while it's the fifth game with at least five free throw attempts. She came into the contest third in the ACC in free-throw attempts.
