Volleyball Falls 3-0 to Clemson

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College volleyball team (16-10, 5-9 ACC) fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-18) to Clemson (16-10, 4-10 ACC) Sunday afternoon at the Margot Connell Center.
Audrey Ross led the Eagles posting 10 kills, Sam Hoppes close behind with seven. Lucy Mott guided the offensive effort with 16 assists, Aubrey Moore near with 13. Cornelia Roach led the team in blocks posting 2.0 total including one solo. Holding down the back row, Brooklyn Yelland tallied 11 digs.
The Tigers took an early 11-6 lead to start the first set, forcing a BC timeout. Clemson continued to dominate the set as a 6-4 run pushed them to a 17-10 lead. The Eagles responded, coming back with an 8-6 scoring run featuring kills from Ehrlich, Ross and Herrington and blocks from Roach (2) and Marjanovic to cut the difference to five. Two final Clemson kills secured the first set for the Tigers, 25-19.
The Eagles and the Tigers both came out fighting, evening the score at 5-5 before a 4-0 Tigers run forced a BC timeout. Clemson came out of the timeout with a 6-2 run, forcing another BC timeout and extending their lead to seven, up 14-7. The Eagles fought back with kills from Ehrlich (2), Herrington, Rach, Grace Milliken and Sam Hoppes, but the Tigers took the second set 25-14.
The Eagles came out strong in the third taking control with an early 8-4 lead to force a Clemson timeout. The Tigers came back fighting with a 11-6 run to even the score at 14-14. Teams tied again at 16-16 before two Clemson kills put the Tigers back in front with an 18-16 lead. A kill from Hoppes and a Clemson error put the Eagles within one, trailing 19-18, but a 6-0 Clemson run closed the third set for the Tigers, 25-18.
