Eagles Fall to NC State in Four Sets
November 14, 2025 | Volleyball
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College volleyball team (16–11, 5–10 ACC) fell to NC State (12–13, 5–10 ACC) 3–1 (25–23, 20–25, 22–25, 19–25) Friday night at the Margot Connell Center.
Audrey Ross led the Eagles with 12 kills and 15.0 points, adding six digs and three total blocks. Setter Lucy Mott guided the offense with 28 assists, six digs and an ace. Anna Herrington posted eight kills while Sequoia Layne added five kills and one block assist. Brooklyn Yelland anchored the back row with a team-high 18 digs and two aces. Freshman Bella Ehrlich helped the defensive effort with four block assists.
The Eagles and the Wolfpack opened the match with a tightly contested first-set. The teams were tied 13 times, neither leading by more than three points at a time. BC held a 15–14 advantage at the media timeout. Tying it up again at 21-21, the Eagles used a 4-2 run featuring kills from Cornelia Roach and Sam Hoppes and a service ace from Savannah Curtis secured the set. The Eagles took the first 25-23.
NC State responded with a strong start in the second set, building an early 7-3 lead. The Wolfpack held a 15-11 lead at the media timeout. Despite kills from Layne (2) Ross (2), Danica Rach (1), the Eagles were unable to catch the Wolfpack's pace, dropping the set 25–20.
The third set featured another back-and-forth battle as the Eagles and the Wolfpack evened the score 13 times. Service pressure from Yelland and Mott, combined with a balanced attack from Ross, Layne and Herrington, kept the Eagles within striking distance. However, NC State used a late 3–0 run to secure a 25–22 win.
NC State carried that momentum into the fourth set, using timely blocks and continued offensive pressure to pull ahead. Herrington and Ross contributed several late kills to keep BC within reach, but the Wolfpack's serving and a trio of aces helped close out the frame, 25–19, and secure the match.
