Volleyball Tops Georgia Tech 3-1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College volleyball team (16-9, 5-8 ACC) defeated Georgia Tech (12-10, 7-6 ACC) 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-19) Friday night in the Margot Connell Center.
This win over Georgia Tech marks the first victory over the Yellow Jackets since 2019.
Audrey Ross led the Eagles with 22 kills and 23 points. Sequoia Layne was close behind posting a career high of 17 kills. Lucy Mott guided the offensive charge posting 27 assists; Aubrey Moore was close behind with 20 assists. Cornelia Roach and Bella Ehrlich posted 3.0 blocks each. Brooklyn Yelland recorded 10 digs, holding down the back row.
In a very competitive opening set, the Yellow Jackets held a one point advantage at the media timeout, leading 15-14. Teams traded points going 4-4 as Georgia Tech maintained their one point lead, calling a timeout, up 19-18. A huge block from Layne and Roach evened the score at 19 all before a 3-1 Yellow Jacket run pushed Georgia Tech to a 22-20 lead, forcing a BC timeout. Back-to-back kills from Layne assisted the offensive effort, but two BC errors and one final Yellow Jacket kill sealed the deal on the first set. Georgia Tech took set one 25-22.
Coming out strong, the Eagles opened the second set with a 6-1 run, forcing an early Georgia Tech timeout.
A 10-11 run from the Eagles featuring kills from Ross (3), Marjanovic (2), Roach and Layne pushed them to a 16-12 lead over the Yellow Jackets. Despite tying it up at 19-19 and 20-20, a 4-2 BC run featuring two kills from Layne secured the second set for the Eagles, 25-22.
The Eagles came out making a statement taking an 8-4 lead, forcing an early Georgia Tech timeout. A 12-9 BC run featuring kills from Ehrlich (3), Ross (2), Hoppes (2) and Layne pushed the Eagles to 20, taking a seven point lead. Though the Yellow Jackets came back with an 8-5 run, two errors, an ace and kills from freshmen Ehrlich and Marjanovic secured the third set for the Eagles. BC took the third set 25-21.
