
Eagles Drop 1-0 Decision to Notre Dame

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Notre Dame on Friday night at Newton Campus Field.
The Eagles drop to 6-8-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the ACC, while the Fighting Irish improve to 8-4-4 overall and 3-2-2 in conference play.
Boston College controlled much of the possession and earned 16 corner kicks, including seven in the opening half, but was unable to capitalize on its opportunities. The Eagles fired 14 total shots, with two on target, as Notre Dame goalkeeper Blake Kelly stopped both to record the clean sheet.
After a scoreless first half, Notre Dame broke through in the 75th minute when Luke Burton headed home a cross from Wyatt Lewis for the lone goal of the match. Boston College's Andrej Borak finished with two saves on eight Irish attempts.
The Eagles had several chances down the stretch, including shots from Johannes Hanken Tjostheim and Russell Brown that were turned away in the final 15 minutes, but could not find the equalizer.
Boston College will close out its home slate on Friday, Oct. 31, when the Eagles host Saint Joseph's at 7 p.m. at Newton Campus Field.
