BC unable to overcome second-half burst from the Huskies

Grayson James made his first start of the season, finishing 16-of-28 for 204 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan McDonald led the running game with 123 yards on 24 carries. Lewis Bond hauled in five catches for 69 yards, while Reed Harris caught three passes for 52 yards and one touchdown.

Luca Lombardo went 3-for-3 on field goals.

Omar Thornton had 10 total tackles, including eight solo. Marcus Upton recorded six tackles, one for a loss.

The Eagles started the scoring on its opening drive of the afternoon. James led a 12-play, 46-yard drive, highlighted by a 16-yard completion to Dawson Pough that was capped off by a 47-yard field goal from Lombardo.

UConn immediately responded on the next drive with a 50-yard passing touchdown from Joe Fagnano to Juice Vereen.

Both teams continued to score on their next drives, as Lombardo kicked another field goal for the Eagles, and the Huskies scored their second touchdown of the day.

BC scored its first touchdown of the afternoon midway through the second quarter. James found Kaelan Chudzinski in the end zone for the nine-yard score to cap off a 10-play, 75-yard drive.

The Eagles took the lead back just before halftime as James slung a 39-yard pass over the middle to Harris in the endzone to make it 20-17.

Momentum swung in favor of the Huskies early in the second half, with the visitors outscoring the Eagles 14-0 in the third quarter off of two touchdown tosses by Fagnano.

BC ended the scoring drought early in the final quarter when Lombardo struck his third field goal of the day through the uprights.

UConn added another touchdown to add to their lead, while holding BC scoreless through the end of the game.

Boston College hits the road next week for an ACC contest against Louisville on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. on the ACC Network.
