No. 9 Eagles Utilize Four-Goal Period in Victory over RPI
October 17, 2025 | Men's Hockey
TROY, N.Y. – No. 9 Boston College men's hockey scored four goals in the second period on its way to a 5-1 victory over RPI in non-conference play on Friday at the Houston Field House.
James Hagens led the way with two goals, while Jake Sondreal, Dean Letourneau, and Brady Berard each scored one. Letourneau and Sondreal each added an assist to finish with two points. Kristian Kostadinski, Will Vote, Drew Fortescue, Luka Radivojevic, and Landan Resendes all registered one point. Louka Cloutier made 10 saves to earn his second win of the season.
Boston College improves to 2-1-1 on the season while RPI drops to 0-3-0.
Hagens opened the scoring midway through the first immediately after RPI killed off a BC power play. The Engineers went to clear the puck and instead hit Hagens. Hagens had time and space in front of him before ripping a shot through several defenders and tucked it into the left side of the net to put the Eagles in front.
RPI equalized just minutes later with a power play goal through Tyler Wallace.
The Eagles responded with four goals in the second period to take a commanding 5-1 lead into the third. Sondreal started the scoring early in the frame, as Letourneau made a quick one-time pass to the front of goal for Sondreal to quickly shoot home.
Letourneau extended the lead to two midway through the period with a one-timer from the slot that zipped past the RPI goaltender. Berard pushed the lead to three shortly after with a shot from the left faceoff circle for the third goal of the period. Hagens added to his total before the end of the period to cap the scoring for the night off a feed across the front of goal from Resendes.
The Eagles kept their foot on the gas with 15 shots on target in the third period, but their attempts were thwarted by RPI goaltender Carson Dorfman.
