January 26, 2025 | Women's Basketball
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Boston College women's basketball fell to Wake Forest, 69-59, on Sunday afternoon at the LJVM Memorial Coliseum.Â
BC falls to 12-10 and 3-6 in ACC play, while the Demon Deacons improve to 8-12 and 1-8 in the league.Â
Dontavia Waggoner led three Eagles in double figures with 16 points, with most of her damage coming at the charity stripe, shooting 7-of-8. She had five rebounds and two steals.Â
T'yana Todd and Savannah Samuel netted 10 points apiece, combining for four of the Eagles' eight 3-pointers. Samuel tied the team lead with five off the glass.Â
A slow start in which the Eagles had seven first-quarter turnovers led to an 18-5 deficit against WF. Waggoner led the charge during a 12-4 to slice the gap to five at the end of the period, scoring seven of her 10 opening-period points during the surge.Â
The Eagles tried to build off the run, but Wake Forest held BC to  three field goals in the second quarter. BC brought the lead to six late in the quarter, but a pair of WF free throws gave the hosts an eight-point lead at the break.
Wake Forest kept control throughout the rest of the contest, taking the lead by as much as 16 in the fourth quarter. BC pulled to within six after a Nene Ndiaye 3-pointer capped off a 16-4 run. However, the Demon Deacons sealed the game at the line.Â
Boston College shot 50 percent from deep, but under 30 percent from inside the arc. WF scored 25 points off BC miscues.Â
The Eagles return to action on Thursday at 6 p.m. against Florida State in Conte Forum. Â
