Eamon Powell Elected as Captain for 2024-25 Season

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Graduate defenseman Eamon Powell has been elected to serve as captain of the Boston College men's hockey team for the 2024-25 season. This is the second straight season Powell has been captain having served in the role during the 2023-24 campaign.
Seniors Connor Joyce and Mike Posma and sophomore Ryan Leonard will serve as alternate captains for the Eagles.
Powell has suited up in 138 games over the course of his career thus far with BC, including 40 during the 2023-24 season. In 2023-24, Powell finished fourth nationally among defenseman in assists (33) and points (38) en route to being named a Hockey East Second Team All-Star and receiving Hockey East's Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship Award. A key piece for the Eagles, Powell was also named to the Hockey East All-Tournament and NCAA Providence All-Regional teams.
Joyce has appeared in 106 games for Boston College. In the 2023-24 season, Joyce skated in 35 games, finishing with 15 blocked shots, two goals and four assists. He tallied a goal against Michigan Tech in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Posma has suited up in 105 games for BC over his first three seasons, including all 41 during the 2023-24 campaign. Last season, the forward posted a plus-10 rating with six goals and four assists while winning 54.4% of his faceoffs (154-129). Posma also served as an alternate during the 2023-24 campaign.
In first season with BC, Leonard was named a CCM/AHCA Second Team All-American after finishing third nationally in goals (31) and points (60). His 31 goals are the most by a freshman in program history and was named the NCAA Providence Regional Most Outstanding Player after scoring two goals in each of the regional contests against Michigan Tech and Quinnipiac.
The Eagles open the 2024-25 season on Friday, Oct. 11 at Michigan State. The home opener is set for Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. against AIC.
