CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College men's soccer sophomore defender Moritz Gundelach was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
The sophomore played a key role in a 2-0-1 week for the Eagles, playing all 90 minutes at center back in each of the three games.
He tallied his first collegiate goal on Friday in the 2-1 victory over Dartmouth and followed that up with helping BC to its first clean sheet of the year with a 1-0 win against Merrimack on Sunday.
The defender is the first Boston College player to earn an ACC men's soccer weekly award since Stefan Sigurdarson did so on Sept. 7, 2021.
Gundelach and the Eagles open the ACC play on Friday at 7 p.m. against Syracuse at the Newton Soccer Field. The game will be available to stream on ACC Network Extra.
