Look Back at Last Season
The Boston College Women's Cross Country team is coming off an impressive 2023 campaign where they finished second overall at the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Northeast Regional Championship, en route to a 26th place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championship. The second place finish at regionals was the best for the Eagles since 2011, when they also placed second overall. Boston College was also ranked on the USTFCCCA poll for the first time since the 2020 season, entering at No. 26.
Climbing the Polls
The USTFCCCA released its regional preseason polls on Aug. 26, and BC's No. 2 ranking is the highest for the program in a decade. The Women's team has ranked top 10 in the preseason regional poll eight of the last 10 years, top five four of the last 10 years, and top three on three occasions.Â
The Eagles also landed at No. 21 in the USTFCCCA preseason coaches poll on Aug. 27. BC's No. 21 ranking is the team's highest ranking in the poll since the Eagles were ranked 26th in the week 6 rankings last fall. This marks the first time the Eagles have been ranked in the preseason poll since 2014, and the third time since 2020 that they have cracked the top 30 in any USTFCCCA weekly poll. Boston College currently sits at No. 22 in the nation in the week 1 coaches poll, and No. 2 in the week 1 northeast regional rankings.Â
