Cynthia Zhang leads strong BC contingency, taking individual honors
CANTON, Mass. -- For the third consecutive year, Boston College captured the team title at the Red Bandanna Invitational, held at Blue Hill Country Club from Sept. 23-24.
The Eagles finished with a team score of 883 (287-300-296), a whopping 46 strokes ahead of runner-up Quinnipiac. Â The 883 team score was the lowest by a champion in the history of the event, formerly known as the Boston College Invitational. Â BC was 1-under par as a team during the first 18 holes of competition (287).Â
Cynthia Zhang took the individual title, becoming the first BC golfer to do so. Â Zhang finished the 54-hole tournament at 3-over par, with a total score of 219 (68-75-76). The 68 tied her low round of the 2024 season. Â
Boston College finished 1-2-3 on the leaderboard, with Angel Lin finishing as runner-up - one stroke behind Zhang (220). Â Lin posted a pair of even-par scores of 72 in the first and third rounds.
Emily Böhrer was third, totaling 223 for the tournament. Â In total, BC placed five golfers in the top six - Ana Lucia Trevino registered her best round during Tuesday's final round - a 1-over 73 - finishing in fifth place. Â Frances Kim tied for sixth place (229).
Danielle Suh was BC's top individual, tying for 16th (233). Â Stephany Kim tied for 27th (236), while Sritha Vemuri (238) tied for 32nd.
The Eagles return to action on Oct. 14-15 at the Quinnipiac Classic at the Farms C.C. in Wallingford, Conn.
