Three Eagles Find the Back of the Net
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 17 Eagles defeated the Friars of Providence College 3-1Â on Sunday afternoon in Providence.Â
The action started early in the first quarter, as BC was awarded a penalty stroke, which was capitalized on by Peyton Hale to put the Eagles on the board.Â
BC struck next in the third quarter, with Pia Serowik tipping in a slick feed from Mia Garber from across the circle. Both teams traded chances through the remainder of the quarter, with Charley Kramer recording two saves and Asia Porter recording three for the Friars.
In the fourth quarter, Yani Zhong netted her team-leading fifth goal of the season on a penalty corner, with assists from Martina Giacchino and Madelieve Drion. With two minutes left in the game, Celia Preveza would get on the board for the Friars, but it was too little too late, as the Eagles finished with a 3-1 victory. BC had the edge in shots (11-6), shots on goal (7-4), and penalty corners (4-1)
Up next: The Eagles host Wake Forest this Friday at 5 p.m. before heading to the University of New Hampshire on Sunday at 1 p.m.
