NEWTON, Mass. – Boston College men's soccer suffered its first loss of the 2024 season, falling to No. 5 Clemson by a score of 1-0 on Friday evening at the Newton Soccer Field.
BC falls to 2-1-3 overall and 0-1-1 in ACC play, while the Tigers improve to 3-1-1 overall and 1-1-0 in league action.
Both teams were unable to open the scoring in the opening 45 minutes, but not for a lack of chances. The Eagles nearly took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute on a shot from Ask Ekeland, but his attempt was thwarted by Clemson goalkeeper Joseph Andema.
The Tigers had a chance of their own minutes later when Ransford Gyan's shot looked to be going into the net but was cleared off the line by Moritz Gundelach.
Brennan Klein made a diving stop in the 60th minute to keep the game even. Clemson tallied the winner in the 72nd off a goal from Misei Yoshizawa.
The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday evening with a non-conference game against Siena. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ACCNX.
