
No. 17 Eagles Get Back on Track with 4-2 Win Over Black Bears

Yani Zhong Records Second Multi-Goal Game of the Season
NEWTON, Mass. - The No. 17 Eagles defeated the University of Maine Black Bears 4-2 on Friday evening, with goals coming from three different players.
The action started in the third minute of the game, as Madelieve Drion scored off an assist from Mia Garber for her first of the season. Maine would strike back five minutes later with a goal from Olivia Geniti to even the score at one a piece.
In the second quarter, Peyton Hale fired a shot off a penalty corner that was tipped in by Yani Zhong for her third goal of the season.
The Eagles would strike again in the third quarter, as Klara Mueffelmann connected with Pia Serowik, who put the ball past the keeper to make it 3-1, however it would once again be Geniti for the Black Bears who brought Maine within one to start the fourth quarter.Â
With five minutes remaining in the game, BC was awarded a penalty corner. Eva Kluskens inserted the ball, which was stopped by Kiki de Bruijne, and fired into the back of the cage by Yani Zhong for her second of the game and fourth of the season.
The Eagles had the edge in shots (15-9), shots on goal (8-6), and penalty corners (7-2). Charley recorded four saves in goal, as did Rozarie Mrazova for the Black Bears.
Up next: The Eagles will travel to Providence College this Sunday to take on the Friars at 1 p.m. The game will be streamed live on FloSports.
