
Eagles Blank Terriers in Battle of Commonwealth Avenue

Five different eagles recorded goals
NEWTON, Mass. - The No. 17 Eagles (2-0) defeated the Boston University Terriers (1-1) 6-0 on Sunday afternoon, with goals coming from five different players.
The action started just two minutes into the game, as Yani Zhong connected with Mia Garber, who scored while diving in front of the cage. Just two minutes later, Peyton Hale would get her first of the game, finding the back of the net on an insertion from Madelieve Drion.Â
In the second quarter, Eva Kluskens set up Martina Giacchino for a deep shot from just inside the circle, making the score 3-0. Five minutes later, Pia Serowik tipped in a pass from Yani Zhong for her first goal of the season, and just before the half, Madelief Grandjean would find the back of the net for her first collegiate goal, making the score 5-0.
The second half saw the Eagles offense continue to pressure the Terriers. Halfway through the third quarter, Drion and Hale would once again connect on a penalty corner for Hale's second goal of the game.Â
The Eagles had the edge on shot attempts (34-5), shots on goal (17-2), and penalty corners (18-4). For the Terriers, Sophie Ortyl and Kate Thomason combined for 10 saves, while Caitlin Wong recorded two defensive saves. Charlotte Kramer and Hayley Hayden each had a save for the Eagles.
Up next: Boston College will travel to Evanston, Ill. for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, where they will face Maryland on Friday, September 6, and Northwestern on Sunday, September 8.
