
Softball Duo Pick Up All-ACC Honors

Starting pitcher and catcher earn third-team selections.
DURHAM, N.C.-- Two Boston College softball players were named All-ACC on Wednesday afternoon ahead of the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship at the Duke Softball Stadium this week. Junior starting pitcher Abby Dunning (Burr Ridge, Ill.) and junior catcher Hannah Slike (Chula Vista, Calif.) are the duo of BC honorees with spots on the All-ACC Third Team.
The award marks the first All-ACC honor for Abby Dunning and second for Hannah Slike.
Dunning headlined the BC lineup from the circle. She went 6-10, with a 3.82 earned run average and 76 strikeouts, in 95.1 innings pitched in conference play. Dunning finished the season first in the ACC in strikeouts, innings pitched, and batters struck out looking with 64. Finishing 12th in the ACC in ERA.
Slike powered the BC lineup from the top of the order with a .351 batting average and .506 slugging percentage against ACC competition. She slugged three home runs in the conference, and eight home runs on the season. Slike led the season with 27 RBI, she added 26 runs, and 13 doubles.
Boston College is 29-23 overall and earned the ninth seed, at the ACC Championship with a 9-15 record in conference play. The Eagles lead off the tournament action Syracuse, Wednesday, May 8 at 1 p.m. against Syracuse. Proving a victory, BC's second game will be on Thursday, May 9, in the quarterfinal against Duke at 11 a.m. All games will be broadcasted nationally on ACC Network.
