Four-star recruit set to join the Eagles as a freshman in 2024-25
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. --Â Kany Tchanda will continue his academic and athletic career as a member of the Boston College men's basketball program, head coach Earl Grant announced. Â
A 6-9, 210-pound forward, Tchanda is a four-star rated recruit by ESPN and spent much of his prep career ranked on the Rivals 150. Â He arrives at the Heights after playing his final high school season at Sunrise Christian Academy for head coach Kyle Lindsted.
"Kany brings a great balance of athleticism and skill. He is long and has a quick twitch when running and jumping," Grant said. "He has the ability to knock down the 3-point shot and drive the ball from the perimeter, while showing a knack to block shots with great timing. Kany's versatility will add a lot to our program. We're excited to have him join us!"
One of Sunrise's most efficient offensive players, Tchanda averaged 10.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and nearly a blocked shot and a steal per game. Â He connected on better than 60% from the floor and 50% from beyond the arc. Â During 2023-24 EYBL Scholastic conference play, he averaged nearly 10.0 points, while ranking the top 20 of the league in rebounds (5.1) and blocked shots (0.9) per game.
Originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tchanda competed in three seasons of high school basketball in the United States. Â
