
Steven Jackson and Emma Tavella Punch Their Tickets to Eugene

Boston College Track and Field team competes at East First Rounds meet in Lexington, Ky.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Steven Jackson and Emma Tavella punched their tickets to the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, while the Boston College Track and Field program competed at the NCAA East First Rounds in Lexington, Ky. over the span of May 22-25.
Steven Jackson and Emma Tavella were the two Eagles to move on to the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. on June 5-8 at Hayward Field. Steven Jackson will represent Boston College in the Men's 1500m, while Emma Tavella will race in the Women's 3,000m Steeplechase.
Wednesday
Steven Jackson started off the East First Rounds meet for the Eagles by winning heat 3 with his time off 3:42.90, and advancing to the Men's 1500m quarterfinal round on Friday.
Thursday
The Eagles went into day 2 of the East First Rounds meet with four girls in the Women's 1500m first round. Boston College had Marie Bilo, Aoife Dunne, Sarah Flynn, and Molly Hudson up against the top runners in the region looking to advance to the quarterfinal round.
Aoife Dunne and Molly both advanced onto the quarterfinal round after finishing top-five in heat 1. Molly Hudson finished 8th overall with a time of 4:13.75, while Aoife Dunne finished 10th with a time of 4:14.15. Hudson now holds the school record time, and Dunne sits at No. 2 all-time.
Sarah Flynn (4:25.06) finished 40th overall, while Marie Bilo (4:34.54) finished 47th.
Friday
Steven Jackson was the lone runner for the Eagles on Friday. Jackson competed in the Men's 1500m looking to punch his ticket to NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Jackson finished third overall in his heat and third overall out of 24 runners with his time of 3:38.66. Jackson's time is now the school record, and Jackson also became the first BC male athlete to qualify in the 1500 since the NCAA switched to a regional format.
Saturday
The Eagles went into the final day of the East First Rounds meet with three runners looking to punch their tickets to the NCAA Championship meet.
Aoife Dunne and Molly Hudson raced in the Women's 1500m quarterfinals, while Emma Tavella competed in the Women's Steeplechase quarterfinals.
Emma Tavella became the second Eagle to punch their ticket to Oregon after she placed third in heat three and seventh overall in the Women's 1500m Steeplechase with her time of 9:56.38.
Aoife Dunne (4:16.09) and Molly Hudson (4:16.13) finished 19th and 20th overall in the Women's 1500m quarterfinal.
