All-ACC cornerback chosen 90th overall in NFL Draft.
DETROIT – Boston College cornerback Elijah Jones was selected with the 90th overall pick in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals on Friday night. Jones' selection marks the 223rd all-time BC player drafted and the 10th consecutive year an Eagle has been drafted in the NFL.
Jones was a First Team All-ACC selection in 2023. He led the ACC with five interceptions and 13 passes defended. Jones started all nine games played and earned a 86.6 defensive grade and 89.8 coverage grade, sixth in the country, from PFF.
In his final game, Jones matched the BC program record for career games played at 60. He also intercepted two passes in that win at Syracuse and deflected another ball that went for a game-clinching interception in the game's final moments. He earned ACC Defensive Back of the Week following that win, his second honor of the season after previously pulling in the award with a two-interception game at Georgia Tech.
Jones' BC career began in 2018 with four games played. Over his six years, he totaled 156 tackles, seven interceptions and 36 pass break-ups. He registered a career-high 36 tackles in 2020 and grabbed his first two career interceptions in 2022.
Jones is just the second BC player drafted by the Cardinals, following former teammate Zach Allen; a third-round pick of Arizona in 2019. He is the first BC corner drafted since Isaac Yiadom and Kamrin Moore were selected in 2018 and the highest drafted cornerback in program history.
