
Lacrosse Dominates Duke to Advance to ACC Semifinals

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -Â Boston College lacrosse earned a dominating 19-5 win over No. 6 seed Duke on Wednesday evening in the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship held in Charlotte.Â
The Eagles will face No. 2 seed Notre Dame for a spot in the finals on Friday at 8 p.m. on ACC Network.Â
BC used a 7-1 second period after leading 4-2 in the first to capture a commanding 11-3 cushion going into the break. The Eagles opened up the second frame with five straight before the Blue Devils stopped the run. Cassidy Weeks and Emma LoPinto scored before the half to give BC the eight-goal advantage.Â
The Eagles didn't stop there, limiting Duke to just two goals in the second half and outscoring Duke by six. BC tacked on four goals in the fourth to pull away for the 14-goal triumph.Â
LoPinto was one of four players with four points, as her six points (3 G, 3 A) was a game best. Rachel Clark led the way with four goals with one helper for five points.Â
Mckenna Davis netted three helpers with two goals for five points, and Cassidy Weeks registered two goals, two assists, two caused turnovers, two ground balls and two draw controls.Â
Belle Smith and Kayla Martello netted hat tricks, while Smith recorded two ground balls and two draw controls.Â
Andrea Reynolds led the charge in draw controls, as she totaled a season-high seven draw controls. Ryan Smith added four, with BC convincingly winning the draw, 20-5. Sydney Scales led the way with a pair of caused turnovers.Â
