Eagles Drop Hard-Fought Battle to UConn, 5-4

STORRS, Conn.-- Boston College Eagles fell to UConn, 5-4, at the Burrill Family Field Softball Complex, Tuesday night.Â
The Eagles scored one run in the first inning to take an early lead over the Huskies. The Huskies got two quick runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead. Addison Jackson dished a 1-2-3 in the second to turn the Eagles over to bat. Nicole Giery answered by hitting a home run to lock up the score, 2-2. Boston College added two more in the fifth. A Giery RBI double followed by a Gator Robinson RBI single, put the Eagles up by two runs. Â
UConn notched three more runs in the fifth after a Lauren Benson two-RBI double, and Rosie Garcia reached on a fielding error that also scored Benson to take a one run advantage. The Huskies held the Eagles scoreless through the next two innings, closing the game in UConn's favor 5-4.
The Eagles return to action Friday at 5:00 p.m. to face-off Notre Dame at the Melissa Cook Softball Stadium for a three game series over the weekend.
