Sailing Earns Three Top-Five Finishes

The Eagles place top-five in all three regattas over the weekend.
BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston College Sailing team finished second overall at the NEISA Women's Team Race, while also competing at the Owen Trophy regatta and the Thompson Trophy regatta over the weekend of Apr. 13-14.
NEISA Women's Team Race
Boston College earned second place overall at the NEISA Women's Team Race with a 11-6 record over the course of the two-day regatta. The meet was hosted by Harvard, and it took place Apr. 13-14 with the Eagles going up against Yale, Harvard, Dartmouth, MIT, Brown, U.S. Coast Guard, Roger Williams, Bowdoin, and Tufts
The Eagles started the regatta off strong with a 6-3 record in round one. Boston College earned victories over Bowdoin, Brown, U.S. Coast Guard, Harvard, Roger Williams, and Tufts. The Eagles secured 1-2-3 finishes against Bowdoin and Tufts.
Boston College would earn a bid into the top-six round with Yale, MIT, Harvard, Dartmouth, and Brown. The Eagles would earn victories over Yale, MIT, Harvard, and Brown to compile a 4-1 record and advance to the final four.
The Eagles would finish the final four round with a 1-2 record, giving them a total record of 11-6 over the two days. The Eagles would finish the regatta in second place out of 10 teams. Yale won the regatta with their 14-3 record overall.
Boston College was led by Skippers Colleen O'Brien, Michaela O'Brien, and Caroline Sibilly, who were joined by a Crew of Sophia Hacket, Libby Redmond, Grace Beneke, Katelyn McGauley, and Sara Schumann.

Owen Trophy
The Eagles finished third overall at the Owen Trophy with 96 points over the regatta. The meet was hosted by Tufts on April 13, and the Eagles were joined by Brown, Tufts, Northeastern, Vermont, Roger Williams, Harvard, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
Boston College's A division team compiled 41 points over eight races. The A division team of Ian Hopkins Guerra and Emily Marlas had five top-five finishes, including four top-two finishes.
Boston College's B division team helped compile 55 points over eight races, finishing the regatta with a top-10 placement in seven of the eight races. The B division team of Ryan McGauley and Paige Roby earned a first place finish in race three, while also placing third in race seven.
Overall, Boston College finished third overall with 96 total points, while Yale won the regatta with 69 points. Tufts (73), Northeastern (104), and Vermont (152) rounded out the top-five of the regatta.

Thompson Trophy
Boston College finished fourth overall at the Thompson Trophy with a 11-10 record over the course of the two-day regatta. The meet was hosted by Connecticut College, and it took place Apr. 13-14 with the Eagles going up against Stanford, Harvard, Brown, MIT, Tufts, Tulane, and Connecticut College.
The Eagles started the regatta off with a 4-3 record in round one. Boston College earned victories over Connecticut College, MIT, Tufts, and Tulane, with three 1-2-6 finishes.
In round two, the Eagles were not able to improve and finished with a 4-3 record with victories over the same teams as round one. Boston College finished the regatta with a 3-4 record to finish 11-10 overall and place fourth overall
Stanford won with a 20-1 record, while Harvard (17-4), Brown (15-6), and MIT (8-13) rounded out the top-five finishers.
Boston College was led by Skippers Peter Busch, Peter Joslin, Michael Kirkman, and Jack Redmond, who were joined by a Crew of Lourdes Gallo, Lily Ornstein, and Kenndy Laureigh.
