BC Earns First Regatta Victory of the Season

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Sailing earned its first regatta victory of the season at the George Warren Smith Trophy, as it competed in four races over the weekend. Along with their first-place finish, the Eagles finished sixth place at the BU Invite, eighth place at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1, and 13th place at the Danmark Trophy.
Boston College opened with a come-from-behind victory at the George Warren Smith Trophy, hosted by MIT. The A Division boat, skippered by Peter Joslin and crewed by Brooke Bergendahl, took second place after accumulating 33 points, setting up B Division. Led by skipper Cody Roe and crew Christian Yanoti, the pair dominated the race, tallying 15 points to edge past Brown by one point and win the regatta, the first of the season for Boston College.
At the BU Invite, the Eagles finished the event in sixth place with 33 total points. Skipper Jake Homberger and crew Aiesha Shekhar led the A Division boat, taking 10th place with 26 points, while skipper Tor Svendsen and crew Emily Marlas led the Eagles to first place in the B Division race with 7 points.
The Eagles took eighth place with 165 points at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1, hosted by Navy. The A Division, led by Caroline Sibilly, Kennedy Laureigh, and Lanie Ferrarone, sailed their way to second place with 39 points, while Kate Joslin, Paige Roby, Laureigh and Ferrarone finished 15th in B Division with 126 points. As part of finishing inside the top nine finishers, the Eagles qualify for the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship Finals in two weeks.
Boston College closed the weekend with the Danmark Trophy, hosted by the Coast Guard. The A Division boat was led by skipper Jack Redmond and crews Tanner Krygsveld and Brendan Peary, where they took 17th place with 145 points. In B Division, skipper Peter Busch and crew Madeline Torrey raced their way to seventh place with 99 points, making it 244 total points for the Eagles, putting them in 13th place overall.
Next up, Boston College takes on Open Atlantic Coast Champs Round 1, Hewitt Trophy, and Sister Esther Trophy across October 4 and 5.
