
BC Wins Sister Ester Trophy and Earns Multiple Top Five Finishes

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College Sailing team had its best weekend of the season, earning top-five finishes in every regatta it competed in, including a victory at the Sister Ester Trophy. The Eagles added a second-place finish at the Hewitt Trophy and a fifth-place finish at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Round One.
At the Sister Ester Trophy, hosted by Roger Williams, the A Division boat of skipper Alex Lech and crews Peter Joslin, Christian Yanoti, and Brooke Bergendahl kept Boston College in contention after scoring 12 points to finish second place. B Division, led by skipper Ryan McGauley and crews Ian Hopkins Guerra, Gabrielle Trinter, and Kylie Craig, followed with an excellent performance from start to finish, taking home first place with 14 points, giving the Eagles a combined score of 26 points to win the regatta by four points over Brown.
Next was the Hewitt Trophy, held at Bowdoin College. The two-day regatta started with the A Division boat, skippered by Tor Svendsen and crewed by Emily Marlas, cruising to a division victory with 31 points. In the B Division race, skipper Roger Casellas and Sydney Lombard guided the Eagles to sixth place with 76 points, bringing the total score to 107Â points, which was good for second place. They were edged by host Bowdoin College by eight points.
The final regatta of the weekend for Boston College was the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Round One, hosted by Coast Guard. The Eagles challenged throughout the weekend, taking fifth place overall with 109 points. A Division, sailed by skipper Peter Busch and crew Caroline Sibilly, recorded a fifth-place result with 58 points, followed by skipper Jack Redmond and crew Lanie Ferrarone scoring 51 points in B Division, also claiming fifth place.
Boston College returns to host the second of its two regattas this season, the Savin Hill Invite, on Saturday, October 11, as well as competing in the Dave Perry Trophy, Women's Atlantic Coast Championship Finals, and Crew's Regatta across October 11-12. Â
