Eagles Drop Two in Friday Doubleheader at No. 14 NC State

BC will look ahead to game three on Sunday at 11 a.m.
RALEIGH, N.C. — Boston College Baseball (7-5, 0-2) dropped both games of their Friday doubleheader to No. 14 NC State (11-2, 2-0), falling 5-4 in an eleven-inning game one, and 9-1 in the night-cap.
John West (Shrewsbury, Mass.) got the start in game one, going 6.1 innings, striking out five while allowing eight hits and four earned runs. Tyler Mudd (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished the game for the Eagles and was dinged with the loss (2-1) on a walk-off bloop single in the bottom of the eleventh. Despite the result, Mudd turned in another strong appearance out of the bullpen, going 4.1 innings of one-run ball, allowing just three hits and striking out six.
The Eagles clawed back from an early four-run deficit to tie the game in the eighth, thanks to a strong game from Patrick Roche (Milton, Mass.), going 3-for-5 with two RBI, including the game-tying knock in the eighth. Parker Landwehr (Baltimore, Md.) added the other two RBI for the Eagles, and Kyle Wolff (Andover, Mass.) went 2-for-3 with a double.
Jacob Dudan (2-0) earned the win for the Wolfpack in game one.
A.J. Colarusso (Leominster, Mass.) started game two and dealt through five innings, striking out five and surrendering just two hits and one earned run. Michael Farinelli (New York, N.Y.) was issued the loss as the Wolfpack broke out for a seven-run sixth inning to go up 8-1.
Nick Wang (Newton, Mass.) got the Eagles on the board with his third home-run of the year in the third inning, and added a double in a 2-for-4 showing at the plate.
Hollis Fanning (1-0) earned the win for the Wolfpack in game two.
The Eagles will look to avoid the series sweep on Sunday at 11 a.m.
