Eagles Bats Pop for 16 Runs as BC Sweeps Georgia Tech
March 30, 2024 | Baseball
Patrick Roche homered for the third time this series as part of a 4-for-5 day at the plate
With home runs in each of the first two Eagles' wins this series, Patrick Roche (Milton, Mass.) hit the trifecta in the first at-bat of the game, launching his second leadoff home run of the weekend to quickly put BC up 1-0.
The Eagles weren't done in the opening frame, with Adam Magpoc (Torrance, Ca.) sending a three-run homer deep to right, and Cam Caraher (Plymouth, Mass.) scoring from third on a wild pitch to open up a 5-0 lead in the first inning.
BC and Georgia Tech traded runs in the second, with Kyle Wolff (Andover, Mass.) keeping the lead at five with a sacrifice fly to score Sam McNulty (Cambridge, Mass.). After the Yellow Jackets brought one more across in the third, the Eagles popped for their second five-run inning of the game in the fourth.
Beck Milner (Park City, Ut.) reached and Patrick Roche promptly scored him on a one-out RBI double. A batter later, and Cameron Leary (Bethpage, N.Y.) went deep for his ninth home run of the season, a two-run shot to tie Wang for the team-lead. Nick Wang (Newton, Mass.) doubled and Adam Magpoc singled, both driving in runs to push the Eagles ahead 11-2 in the fourth.
Leading 11-3 in the eighth, Kyle Wolff homered for the second time this weekend, bringing his season total to seven. Cam Caraher singled to score Magpoc and went on to score via wild pitch. Patrick Roche punctuated the Eagles' third five-run inning of the day with a two-run single.
Georgia Tech managed four over the final two innings, but Boston College held on to sweep the weekend series, 16-7.
A day after John West delivered his longest outing of the season, A.J. Colarusso (Leominster, Mass.) followed suit. The sophomore dealt for seven innings, striking out six with just three runs allowed, earning the win (3-2).
Patrick Roche finished 4-for-5 with a double, home run, and four RBI. Cameron Leary homered for the ninth time this year, going 3-for-5 with a double, home run, and two RBI. Adam Magpoc and Beck Milner each added three hits, with Magpoc hitting his second home run of the season as a part of a 3-for-6 day with four RBI, and a triple, finishing a double shy of the cycle.
Winners of four straight, the Eagles will return north for a pair of road mid-weeks at Harvard and Rhode Island this Tuesday and Wednesday.
