Five Eagles deliver multi-RBI efforts in Beanpot semifinal game
BC reached the 16-run mark for the seventh time this season. Three days after scoring 16 in their win at Georgia Tech, the Eagles finish with 33 runs over their last two and extend their win streak to five.
Boston College struck first in the opening frame, loading the bases for Adam Magpoc (Torrance, Ca.) who walked in the first run. Nate McHugh (Franktown, Co.) made his first start of the season at catcher on Tuesday, and scored his first run as an Eagle in the second inning. McHugh added a two-RBI, bases-loaded single in the eighth, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBI, two walks, and two runs scored. An RBI double from Cameron Leary (Bethpage, N.Y.) and a sacrifice fly from Nick Wang (Newton, Mass.) extended the lead to 4-0.
After Harvard tied it in the bottom of the third, BC responded with one in the fourth, three in the fifth, and two in the sixth to take the lead for good. Kyle Wolff (Andover, Mass.) began with an RBI single in the fourth, followed by an RBI bunt-single from Owen DeShazo (Glen Allen, Va.), a bases-loaded walk from Cameron Leary, and another run-scoring knock from Wolff in the fifth. Leary finished 1-for-2 with two RBI, walking five times and scoring four runs. Wolff finished 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, two walks, and a run scored.
Sam McNulty (Cambridge, Mass.) added two hits, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, two walks, and two runs scored. Nick Wang logged his eighth double of the season, with three RBI. Travis Lane (Georgetown, Mass.) got the win for the Eagles (1-0), with Lane contributing one of five scoreless outings from the bullpen. Kyle Kipp, Jordan Fisse, Beck Milner, and Brad Lombardi all delivered scoreless appearance on Tuesday.
The Eagles are scheduled to visit Rhode Island on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. ahead of hosting Florida State this weekend.
