Parker Landwehr bases-loaded single in the 10th secures second conference series win
ATLANTA, Ga. — Boston College Baseball (14-11, 4-7) secured their second conference series against Georgia Tech (16-9, 3-5), with a 5-3 extra-inning win on Friday night.
The Yellow Jackets opened the scoring with a two-spot in the second inning, but game two was all Eagles from there. John West (Shrewsbury, Mass.) started on the bump for Boston College and turned in one of his best starts of the season, going eight strong with five strikeouts, tossing six straight shutout innings to cap off his longest start of the year.
The Eagles got on the board on the third, with Patrick Roche (Milton, Mass.) launching his second home run of the series, a solo shot to cut the lead to 2-1. West held the Yellow Jackets' bats in check over the four innings, opening the door for Cam Caraher (Plymouth, Mass.) to tie the game, stealing third base and scoring on a throwing error in the seventh.
West finished a scoreless eighth and gave way to Jordan Fisse (Ridgewood, N.J.), who put Georgia Tech away in order in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. With one out in the top of the tenth, Parker Landwehr (Baltimore, Md.) delivered a clutch bases-loaded single to score two, and Cam Caraher added a third on a bunt single, putting BC up 5-2 in the first frame of free baseball.
Kyle Kipp (Stamford, Ct.) relieved Fisse in the bottom of the tenth and retired the only two batters he faced, forcing Georgia Tech to ground into a series-winning double play and earning the save (1).
Boston College secures their second ACC series of the season and will play for the series sweep on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
