ATLANTA, Ga. — Boston College Baseball (13-11, 3-7), took game one of the weekend series at Georgia Tech (16-8, 3-4), rolling to a 10-3 victory on Thursday night.
The Eagles jumped out to a quick 2-0 advantage in the opening frame, sparked by a leadoff home run from Patrick Roche (Milton, Mass.). Vince Cimini (Scranton, Pa.) doubled the lead, knocking a single to right-center to bring home Cameron Leary (Bethpage, N.Y.).
After a scoreless first from Michael Farinelli (New York, N.Y.), Boston College went right back to work in the second, with Cam Caraher (Plymouth, Mass.) leading off the inning with a double to the right-center gap. Adam Magpoc (Torrance, Ca.) moved him over to third on a sacrifice bunt, and Sam McNulty (Cambridge, Mass.) followed suit with a sacrifice bunt of his own to extend the lead to 3-0. One batter later, and Patrick Roche picked up where he left off, knocking a single to left center to score Magpoc, who reached on a fielding error on his sacrifice bunt.
The Eagles tacked on two more in the fourth, with Kyle Wolff (Andover, Mass.) continuing his tear at the plate, driving an opposite-field, two-run homer to extend the Boston College lead to 6-0.
An inning later, and Boston College added another two, started off by an RBI double from Sam McNulty to score Cam Caraher. Patrick Roche did it again in the following at-bat, logging his second RBI single of the day, and third hit in as many at bats, to push the lead to 8-0.
Georgia Tech added runs in the fifth and sixth to make it 8-2. The Eagles got those runs right back in the ninth, with Vince Cimini picking up his second RBI single of the night.
Evan Moore (Rocky Hill, Ct.) earned the win for the Eagles (1-0), with Eric Schroeder (Ridgewood, N.J.) coming in to finish the last 1.1 innings, including an escape of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth. Aidan Crowley (Shoreham, N.Y.) delivered 1.2 strong innings of middle relief in the win, striking out four with no runs allowed.
Patrick Roche finished going 3-for-4 with three RBI and a home run in another strong day out of the leadoff spot. Kyle Wolff ended going 2-for-6, including his seventh home run of the year. Adam Magpoc went 3-for-4 with two runs scored as the freshman continues to settle in at the dish. Cam Caraher finished 4-for-5 with a double.
