COLUMBUS, Ohio – Luca Berman, Levi Hughes, and Elijah Onik will represent Boston College at the 2024 NCAA Fencing Championships on March 21-24 in Columbus, Ohio on the campus of the Ohio State University.Â
The NCAA Fencing Championships are set to take place March 21-24 in Columbus, Ohio at French Field House and St. John Arena. On Tuesday, March 12 the NCAA Men's and Women's Fencing Committee announced the field of 144 competitors that will participate in the championship meet.
Junior Levi Hughes will be representing the Eagles in Men's Epee. Hughes will begin the round robin rounds at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Freshman Elijah Onilk will be competing in Men's Foil at 11 a.m. Eastern Time, while freshman Luca Berman will be battling in Men's Sabre at 1:00 p.m. The trio will compete in round robin rounds 1-3 on Saturday, and rounds 4-5 on Sunday morning.Â
Quote for Coach Brendan Doris-Pierce: "All three of these young men have been fencing at the highest level all season. Their passion and drive helped the team reach new Heights this year and I'm excited to watch them compete with the best in the country."
The NCAA Fencing Championships will include individual events in each of six weapons, and the fencers will compete in a round-robin format of five bouts. After round robin, the top-four finishers in each weapon will fence in the semifinals, with winners fencing to determine first and second places, and non-advancing fencers being awarded a tie for third place. Each school's finish in the championships will be based on points earned by each individual. Schools will be awarded one point for each victory by its student-athletes during the round-robin competition.
Meet information can be found here.Â
